April 2003

A new action model based on the SEAT Ibiza 1.4 litre 16 valve is to be released by SEAT Force in Greece. The model named ‘TopGun’ carries some extensive exterior body styling; MAK 7X16 Alloy wheels shod with 205/45X16 Bridgestone RE720’s, a JVC sound system and much more. Improved handling has been aided by the installation of Sachs Sporting dampers and Eibach Sports Springs. The latter, lowers the car by some 25mm from stock.

In order to create performance that matched looks, SEAT Force appointed REVO the task of developing a performance package that would retain the same driving characteristics as the original car whilst maintaining reliability, economy and current emission regulations.

The Italian company, Magneti Marelli, supplies the factory fitted engine management system in the Ibiza. Many weeks of development and testing was carried out in the UK and Greece before the final performance package was finally approved by SEAT Force.

Early development was carried out using performance camshafts with custom software, but was quickly dropped due to the costs involved versus the actual horsepower gained. The final specification now consists of a modified air box utilising the BMC CDA intake system and custom REVO software. The finished product produces a power output of 115bhp @ 5950rpm and a torque figure of 145nm @ 4500rpm and an approximate 15% increase in performance with much smoother acceleration, drivability and an improved throttle response.

With pre-orders already taking place, SEAT Force projects sales figures of 1000 units over the next twelve-month period. SEAT Force will also be offering the package to existing customers through their dealer network in Greece for pre-owned vehicles. Currently there are thirty-three SEAT Force Dealers appointed as official REVO agents with a further twelve being appointed over the coming months.

The association between REVO and SEAT Force has been further re-enforced with the successful introduction of the 1.8T performance software into Greece earlier this year. Currently there are over 450 1.8T-equipped SEAT’s in Greece sporting REVO software. This alone displays REVO’s position in this exciting market…
