      <title>Audi Driver International 2012</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.revotechnik.com//resources/uploads/news/thumbnails/audi_driver_2012_00112-101940_160x220.jpg" /></p>Audi Driver International 13th October 2012It was an early cold and wet start for the STaSIS Revo team as the European Motorsport lsquoChallengersquo Edition S4 and S5 were driven down to Castle Combe Race Circuit for the 10th year of Audi Driver InternationalWe looked to be in for some wet weather but the sun came out whilst as people were still arrivingAudi Driver brings customers and dealers in from all over the UK and some from Europe Revo Dealers AM Cars APS Dialynx Fontain JKM TT Shop and VAG Tech were also in attendance flying the flagBy 9am the first few newly flashed customer cars Stage1 TTRS Stage1 LT S3 Sportback and 20TFSI A3 were already queuing to get out and try their software on track It didnrsquot take long for the owners to come back with feedback along with the owner of the CR170 TT that had been setup the previous day the three drivers were excitedly telling us stories of their overtaking manoeuvres and the speeds they hit on track That set the tone for the day as numerous cars were flashed setup and taken out to be shaken downThe European Motorsport lsquoChallengersquo Edition S4 was taken out late on in the morning for its first session and passenger laps of the day Itrsquos not just a great road car even running road tyres road compound brake pads a full tank of fuel and with passenger it can more than hold itrsquos own on the track The first outing was relatively quiet the 410bhp S4 following Audi UKrsquos 550bhp R8 GT driven by former Le Mans racer Richard Attwood for most of the session To see the video please click this linkAlso out on the track giving passenger demonstrations was the APS SEAT Ibiza 18T Rally car seen in the background belowDialynxrsquo 450bhp Audi 80 quattro 14T hillclimb carIf you havenrsquot seen it in action itrsquos certainly worth watching some videos of this car on youtube over the past season itrsquos taken numerous class records in the hillclimb scene Click this link to see Keith Murray taking class record at Loton ParkJKM had their three Skoda Octavia VRSrsquo out on track their own 365bhp 20TSI Revo Stage3 K04 car a freshly built customer 20TSI Revo Stage3 K04 car and a 450bhp 20TFSI Stage4 3071R track car which you can see following our S4 if you click this linkThe TTShop had their own lairy green 500bhp Revo Stage3 TTRS demo car out on the track along with a customers track spec Revo Stage3 TTRS that was out for the first time since being builtVAG Tech had their 415bhp Stage1 Revo RS3 out for the first time on trackThe STaSIS Revo presence was a force to behold with customer cars ranging from 18T SEAT Leonrsquos through to RS6 V10rsquos being driven out on the track as well as the dealer demo vehicles everywhere you looked were STaSIS or Revo logorsquod cars with very happy drivers not far from themThe afternoon sessions were a little damper than the morning proving for some interesting laps in the S4 sliding around Tower corner on every lap The day ended around 5pm and we headed over to Swindon for the Annual Audi Driver awards picking up the Gold award for Independent Tuner of the Year Midnight came and the S4 and S5 took back to the road for the drive back to European HQThe STaSIS European Motorsport lsquoChallengersquo Edition S5 with Revo 20TSI K04 Stage3 Octavia VRS in the background about to go out on trackWarm brakes on the S4 mid track sessionEver wondered what yoursquod find at the end of a rainbow]]></description>

announced ambitions plans to take a highly Revo tuned Octavia vRS to the legendary Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats from the 13th to the 19thof August Speed Week is an annual gathering of the worldrsquos fastest cars on the harsh salt flats of Bonneville in Utah The Octavia vRS that Skoda is preparing for the event will be comprehensively modified in partnership with Revo Technik Skodas official tuning partner The 20-litre engine will deliver well over twice the standard output and the bodywork wheels and interior will also be adjusted to suit the demands of the eventAs you can see from the images below the car is already undergoing its transformation A brand new Octavia VRS was delivered to Skodarsquos HQ where it was unwrapped stripped and the standard engine dyno testedSkodas Ricky Elder talks Evo Magazine through the transformation of a standard Skoda Octavia vRS into the 600bhp monster that will be going to Bonneville Speed WeekWere you surprised when the request came to build a Bonneville racerAnd some Wersquore the technical service centre for the Volkswagen Group in the UK so we get involved in all the projects But when they asked us about this one we thought lsquoyeah how hard can it bersquo We got that one wronghellipSo what are the big challenges with making an Octavia that can do 200mphWhere to start The deeper we looked into it the more we realised it was a mammoth task Not so much building the car although that obviously took some doing but in terms of making sure everything meets with the right standards over there We canrsquot get across there and discover somethingrsquos wrong Itrsquos so important to get it right that we actually flew Jim Miller the chief scrutineer for production cars at Speed Week over here to look at the car Fortunately he said it was fine we just had to do some minor stuffSo what are the big technical challengers for a Bonneville racerWe went to RevoWell the big ones are power and cooling If yoursquove not got the power yoursquore never going to go quickly enough And if yoursquove not got the cooling then clearly yoursquore not going to last longhellip We went to Revo our technical partners on this and asked whatrsquos the best way of getting power out of these enginesAnd they suggested a massive turbochargerYes among other things Wersquore going to use 120 octane racing fuel along with methanol injection The reason we need the methanol is because at high revs the injectors are running flat out ndash a constant 12 volt feed ndash so we canrsquot get any more fuel through them If this was the old TFSI engine then we could run a set of Audi R8 injectors in it But because itrsquos the new TSI motor therersquos no development out there for a higher flow injector ndash so wersquove had to come up with a different solution to keep the octane topped up ndash two simple methanol injectors in the inlet tract Itrsquos mixed with water 5050 to cool the intake charge down That will help create power but the methanol will top your octane up and give you a better burn and help lean your engine offAnd cooling ndash yoursquore not going to be short of airflow at 200mph are you No but the temperatures are going to be stratospheric ndash 40 45-degrees ambient Yoursquore in the middle of an arid desert itrsquos dry and therersquos no serious humidity Because of that the effective altitude fluctuates Itrsquos at sea level ndash itrsquos a lake bed ndash but the oxygen content is the equivalent to anything between 4 and 7000 feet That means the turbo has to work harder to get the same boost pressure and therersquos less air coming through the radiator Wersquove made an educated guess on cooling the new rad takes ten litres of coolant on its own ndash itrsquos massive ndash but itrsquos going to be far easier to warm the car up if we over-cool it than it is to find extra coolingAnd how have you worked out the gearingAgain itrsquos a best guess Wersquove got a combination ofwheels and tyres to enable us to adapt to the conditions On paper itrsquos perfect ndash the right revs for that gearbox from an Octavia Greenline in fifth translates to 201mph But then therersquos wheel slip to take account of ndash from the second he pulls away Dickiersquos going to have the front wheels slipping The faster you go the less it gets but even at 200mph wersquore expecting four to six percent wheel slip ndash and that means that even if the wheels are turning at 200mph the car will only be doing 190mphAnd why have you chosen to remove the front brakesBecause we donrsquot need lsquoem Therersquos no grip to accelerate so therersquos definitely no grip to stop ndash if you stamp on the brakes on the sand yoursquore just going to lock up Therersquos the parachute to stop and wersquove kept the rear brakes so that Dickie has some braking control when manoevering but the main problem we had was putting the 15-inch steel wheels were using onto the hubs ndash the front brake discs are bigger than the inside of the wheels Getting rid of them removes drag unsprung weight and friction too ndash itrsquos like three birds with one stone And even after Dickiersquos done his nine mile run hersquos still got another 100 miles to go before he hits anything]]></description>

      <title>Stage 2+ Audi S3</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.revotechnik.com//resources/uploads/news/thumbnails/web[1]_160x220.jpg" /></p>When I pre-ordered my Audi S3 back in mid 2006 no cars available to test in the UK I had fairly high aspirations based on the quoted performance figures An hour behind the wheel presented a very painful realisation that Irsquod spent over 30k on what felt like very much the wrong car Whilst competent it lacked driver involvement any sense of real sparkle and at that point I had very real doubts as to whether the car should even be entitled to wear the lsquoSrsquo badge Audi had bestowed upon itI decided in order make the most of an unfavourable situation the only option that made sense was to follow the modification route to try and extract the best from the potential from the car After initial engagements with a tuning supplier recommended by my Audi dealer I didnrsquot feel the car was progressing in the direction I was hoping for I decided to cut my losses and contact Revo who had worked wonders on a previous car I owned Leon Cupra R Mk1 ndash Stage 2Revo listened to my frustrations and ensured me the product they were developing for stage 1 should address my dissatisfaction their code was in final development testing True to their word the stage 1 map turned out to be a significant improvement for the car and as subsequent releases of staged code have become available 2 and 2 the car has evolved way beyond any expectations of what could be achieved on this platform without significant or evasive modification The car now delivers nigh on supercar performance and only the suspension and handling departments which sit outside Revorsquos remit currently let it downModification is not a route Irsquod planned to take with the S3 due to the expense of initial purchase The problem as I see it is that modern cars are heavy riddled with over-active compensatory electronic safety nets and strangled by eco targets This significantly blunts a cars performance and delivers a car that will fail to thrill anyone who is truly passionate about driving Therefore to ensure I tackled the task with the appropriate support on hand I wanted a UK based tuner who could provide technical support in times where my manufacturer warranty had been compromised In the very rare cases I have had questions the guys at Revo HQ in Daventry have always been proactive in providing me with valuable information about upgrade path options and offering useful advice of how to get any issues resolved where Audi service have been unable to help outThe investment in Revo Stage 2 has addressed my performance issue completely and delivered a car that I genuinely enjoy driving whether commuting or driving for pleasure Irsquove now covered 40000 miles and still enjoy it as much today as ever for such a moderate investment this can only ever be a good thing Whereas I had doubts the original S3 was ever worthy of an lsquoSrsquo badge with stage 2 it could just be worth of an RS one One very happy customer]]></description>
