PCV System (Positive Crankcase Ventilation System)
The standard PCV System is prone to failure. The PCV system has both front and back valves, it is typically the front PCV Valve that fails. The rear valve is in the breather tube below the MAF sensor at the back of the engine.
A failed PCV will cause a small reduction in Boost Pressure and an erratic idle, it can also cause the oil filler cap seal to fail. Extended use of the vehicle with a damaged PCV system can lead to further problems.
Diverter Valve (Dump Valve)
The early versions of the factory diverter valve are prone to faiure. The early DV uses an internal rubber diaphragm that can split. On K03 based vehicles the DV is on the turbo housing. On K04 vehicles the DV is located at the front of the engine bay in a housing on the throttle body hose.
A failed DV will cause a large reduction in Boost Pressure.
There are numerous aftermarket DV solutions but Revo recommend running the later style factory DV that uses a piston rather than diaphragm, this is a much more reliable setup than the earlier style OEM DV.
